3D printing in neurosurgery: A systematic review
BACKGROUND The recent expansion of three-dimensional (3D) printing technology into the field of neurosurgery has prompted a widespread investigation of its utility. In this article, we review the current body of literature describing rapid prototyping techniques with applications to the practice of neurosurgery. METHODS An extensive and systematic search of the Compendex, Scopus, and PubMed m...
متن کامل3D Printing: 3D Printing of Highly Stretchable and Tough Hydrogels into Complex, Cellularized Structures.
X. Zhao and co-workers develop on page 4035 a new biocompatible hydrogel system that is extremely tough and stretchable and can be 3D printed into complex structures, such as the multilayer mesh shown. Cells encapsulated in the tough and printable hydrogel maintain high viability. 3D-printed structures of the tough hydrogel can sustain high mechanical loads and deformations.
متن کاملCurrent Applications and Future Perspectives of the Use of 3D Printing in Anatomical Training and Neurosurgery
3D printing is a form of rapid prototyping technology, which has led to innovative new applications in biomedicine. It facilitates the production of highly accurate three dimensional objects from substrate materials. The inherent accuracy and other properties of 3D printing have allowed it to have exciting applications in anatomy education and surgery, with the specialty of neurosurgery having ...
متن کاملChromaticity gamut enhancement by heptatone multicolor printing
The present paper studies the chromaticity gamut of multi-color printing processes. Heptatone (7color) printing – the most promising variant of multi-color printing – offers a significantly larger gamut than a conventional CMYK printing process, approaching CRT and film gamuts. The behavior of the process in the device-independent CIE-XYZ and CIE-L*u*v* colorimetric spaces is explored using the...
